The town of Watchet lies on the Somerset Coast of the Bristol Channel between Minehead and Bridgwater bay. Stacked in history and a community spirit envied by many other local towns Watchet organisations have always put on events to entertain local residents and visitors alike. The Carnival and Festival are no exception! If you visit Watchet to attend the Carnival or the Festival please take time to look around this ancient port which dates back over 1,000 years invaded by the Vikings that some say has always given Watchet its feisty spirit!
Watchet is easy to find located 2 miles off the main Bridgwater to Minehead road the A39. Located 18 Miles from Bridgwater, 20 miles from Taunton and 8 miles from Minehead the Watchet Carnival and Festival are easy events to get to from the M5 motorway.
If travelling on the A39 from the Bridgwater direction please be cautious and patient of this road as it has many twists and nasty bends to contented with, Which through time perhaps we should put the blame on the Romans as they never seemed to have constructed many straight roads in West Somerset when they conquered England -could this have been because of the discovery of Somerset ciders!
If travelling from the north leave the M5 at Junction 23 or 24 and follow the signs for Minehead until you reach the town of Williton and follow the signs for Watchet.
If travelling from The South leave the M5 at Junction 26 or 25 and follow the signs for Minehead taking the A358 until you reach Williton and follow the signs for Watchet.
For those choosing to use public transport First National buses run an excellent service from Bridgwater and Taunton, with a bus stop in the middle of Watchet for the Carnival this is an ideal way to get to the event. If travelling to the Festival there is a bus stop 50 mtrs from the Festival site entrance between The Watchet and Washford Tropiquaria stops (Please ask the Bus driver to drop you at FiveBell/Brendon Road stop) For more information on times and frequency of buses please visit:-

Parking in Watchet on Carnival Day
On Carnival Day there is never enough car parking spaces in the town itself, we do therefore advise you to arrive early. We are planning to use the Festival site as a Carpark with a minibus link to and from the town centre, (actual charges TBC but will be a realistic price). It is however only an approx 600mtr walk downhill to the town and a small climb back to this Carpark. Why not take advantage of the spectacular views from the Festival field, bring a picnic and enjoy the West Somerset countryside and coastline.
Parking at Festival
Parking at the festival is FREE! unless overnight is required for camper vans etc. There will be a minibus running from the town to the festival site and also from local campsites: a contact telephone number will be published one month before the festival giving more information.
Via the sea!
Watchet has a 150+ berth marina and each year see visitors to the Carnival and Festival arrive by boat! For marina information visit:-
